North Shore University Hospital is a major university teaching hospital for the Hofstra Northwell Health School of Medicine. The hospital has 756 beds on a 58-acre campus in Manhasset. Featuring the outstanding Greene Emergency Center and Cohen Trauma Center, NSUH is an American College of Surgeons (ACS)-designated Level One Trauma Center. New York State ranks the hospital within the top five facilities for trauma survival rates.

Other highly regarded programs at NSUH include the Sandra Atlas Bass Cardiology Center, recognized as the first and only full-service destination for heart transplantation in Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island. The Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit, the Cardiothoracic Unit, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit and the Medical Intensive Care Unit have all received the esteemed designation of the Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).

NSUH is designated as a Bariatric Center of Excellence and a Renal Transplant Center. The Katz Women’s Hospital offers women the highest level of medical expertise and features 73 single-bed rooms designed for privacy and comfort. The Harvey Cushing Institutes of Neuroscience features nationally recognized physicians to treat stroke, movement disorders and a range of brain anomalies. The Don Monti Memorial Pavilion provides inpatient services for cancer.

The Manhasset campus also includes several freestanding specialized facilities: the Schwartz Ambulatory Surgery Center, the Boas-Marks Pavilion at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research and the Stern Center for Extended Care and Rehabilitation.
